Project Spotlight
The Walker's were looking for a contractor to finish a project for their home that was started by another contractor but did not reach their satisfaction. This project included the renovation of their two-bedroom house, dining room, and bathroom. Also, they wanted to add a two-story addition with a master suite, family room, great room, half-bath, and kitchen.
J.B. Stones prides itself on its attention to detail and satisfactory workmanship. In honor of this, before continuing the renovation and addition, we assessed the property to take note of any problems before getting started. At this point, many challenges came to light. We noticed the stairwell was not built to code, as well as the kitchen and dining room floors were not flat or level. With further investigation, we removed the substrates in the kitchen and discovered the floor joist was rotting away, causing the kitchen to rot away. Because of this discovery, we inspected the rest of the house according to the NC Building Code so we could fix these issues before moving forward with the project.
Communication and collaboration are important factors in this project. When we realized the structural state of the home, we brought in an engineer to get his opinion as well as to get a written report from him before correcting the structural issues. We also brought in a mechanical contractor, electrical contractor, and plumber to help us get this project back to where it should be.
In addition to the renovations, we designed the remodeled bathroom to provide them with options. Our design focus allowed us to draw many options for the Walker’s to choose from so we can help renovate their house into their dream home. Although this project is not yet completed, the Walker's are both satisfied and appreciative of the work that has been done. When asked if he would recommend J.B.
